Tom Green Internet Show

I decided to type "Tom Green" into the Youtube search engine, just because I haven't heard anything about him in a while. It turns out that he has a live internet show that can be accessed by connecting to his website, www.tomgreen.com.

The show is a live stream of Tom in his living room, and talking to the camera about random subjects that happen to cross his mind. He also takes callers, which are usually prank callers that are trying to annoy Tom (and they do a good job at it too). He does this show every night, and he sometimes takes guests on the show. On one occasion, he actually brought a band to his house and they played a set in his living room.

To be honest, the show is actually amusing and boring at the same time. When I'm bored and browsing the internet, its always interesting to tune in and see what Tom Green is doing at this moment. But the thing is, he doesn't do much. Its hard to believe how he used to be a well-known guy in comedy movies and with his own show on MTV, now people just watch him sit in his living room. Well, if he enjoys it, I'm happy for the guy. :P

Step Brothers

Great movie. Will Ferrell and that other guy are great together, I can't imagine anybody else playing those roles.

This is very short and simple, and I also find it to be clever. Just the stances that the two characters use are so awkward that it actually quirks me. The animation and colour are very attractive to look at, and he even uses his animation skill to play mind games with the viewer (you'll notice it when it happens). The conversation between the two is so strange that it makes you wonder what they do in their spare time. Plus, its really short, so you can hit replay and watch it again. :)

The Happening Movie

Being a fan of M. Night Shyamalan's work, I was eager to see this movie. I totally ignored all the critic's reviews before I saw it, because I wanted to see it with an open mind.

This movie really lacks in horror. There are maybe one or two parts that made me jump, but the movie didn't actually have that unsettling feeling that all scary movies should have. I felt like I was watching these people go crazy and kill themselves, and it just didn't matter to me. I didn't feel like I was actually in the movie, I was never pulled in. There are also alot of parts where you can tell that they really tried to make it intense and suspenseful, but the mood just isn't there. If you're looking to get scared, do not go and see this movie.

On the other hand, if you're looking to see a unique movie, you should really check this movie out. Surprisingly, this movie is the first to successfully combine comedy with horror (yet, I still wouldn't call it horror). After around thirty minutes in, there was a part in the movie that made me giggle. At first I just thought it was just a rare occurrence of unintentional humor. But then, the movie just started getting hilarious. I started thinking that the humor was intentional, and that M. Night Shyamalan decided to put a mood twist in his new movie. But then I realized that it wasn't what the actors were saying that was funny, but its how they said it along with the cinematography. If the movie was shot differently at certain parts and the actors were a little more fit for a horror movie, then it just may have been a scary movie. I'm not saying the actors were bad, but they were just in the wrong genre.

To my disappointment, there is not a plot twist at the end like there usually is in Shyamalan's movies, but I still like the message that the movie conveys. It shows that Shyamalan is an environmentalist, which I always respect in people.

The gore was intense, and at some parts I found it to be very unnecessary. The movie would have been just as good, if not better, if the camera cut away just before some parts happened. But I guess they figure that the 'R' stamp on a movie is what sells, but this proves that that is not the case.

Also, there is a very cheesy attempt to advertise the iPhone. They might as well had just paused the movie and flashed 'BUY AN IPHONE' for ten seconds. I wonder how much Apple had to fork up to get it in there. I don't need to describe when it happens, you'll see it.

Shyamalan is also known for his cameo appearances in his movies. He's usually in it for a few seconds, just enough to notice its him. Yet, in this one, his appearance is a voice over a cell phone that says "hello?" just before getting hung-up on. It's really lame.

So overall, this isn't a bad movie. The movie is badly made and poorly executed, but it is entertaining. You won't be bored watching it.

To the top!
